Stress = Breakouts!

Well it does for me anyway!  I don’t know why, but if I’m under more stress than usual, I have break outs & I’m 34 years old (way past the acne stage of teens!)  I have tried every kind of make up under the sun and none of it controls my skin’s oil.  After a couple of hours of wear it looks like I need to wash up and start over.

Okay, here’s the thing….I have recently discovered that peppermint oil has astringent qualities in it to help control oil!  Sweet!!!!  It is soothing to the skin & actually helps to balance out skin tones (oily, dry & combination).  Dab some on a cotton ball and hit my oily spots before throwing on the makeup.  Plus by me putting it on my face I get the benefits of it waking me up & energizing my mind!

Caution:  Do not use during pregnancy or on children under 2; can irritate skin.

Melt Holiday Stress Away!

Relax and unwind as the stress and added holiday tension melts away.  Relieving stress is as simple as taking a bath.  That is…. a lavender salt bath!  Stress works on your body and mind, so treat both areas with a soothing lavender salt bath that is a breeze to mix up yourself.

Lavender calms your nerves because it is rich in an essential oil called linalool that actually releases stress from your central nervous system.

For all of those tired and achy muscles, lavender is known for it’s anti-inflammatory features that will give your muscles the much needed relief they need.

As a BONUS – lavender is great to relieve sinus pressure  and used to treat eczema!!!

1 Tablespoon of  Lavender Tea (not brewed)

2 cups of Epsom Salt

Store in a jar.

Just simply pour a scoop of lavender salt into your bath & relax for at least 10 minutes.

If Your NOT A Fan Of Lavender, Try A Chamomile Milk Bath Instead…..

1 Tablespoon of Chamomile Tea (not brewed)

1 Tablespoon of Powdered Milk

Cheesecloth

Place the Chamomile Tea & Powdered Milk in the cheesecloth & tie it up like a sachet.  Place the sachet in your bath & soak for at least 15 minutes.

Chamomile relieves anxiety and helps to relax your mind.  This would be a great way to unwind before going to bed to get a good night’s rest.

Also, this is the time of the year when people suffer with colds the most.  It doesn’t help when your body gets run down by working long hours and just everyday stress.  Take 15 minutes and relax in the tub instead of taking a quick shower.  You may be surprised at how much better you feel. A wonderful thing  about Chamomile is it works as an antibacterial to relieve cold symptoms such as coughing and achy muscles!

Canker Sore RELIEF

Canker sores are painful.  Relief just can’t come quick enough for me. Yes, I’m a wimp when it comes to pain!!!  For some fast relief , I reach for a cup of chamomile tea.  Simply brew & let it cool, then just swish it around for 1 minute in your mouth.

I know what your thinking….”So what’s so special about chamomile tea”?

The answer is 2 things….

1st – chamomile tea is full of volatile oils that will instantly reduce irritation (that is what is causing it to HURT!)

2nd – chamomile tea has an amazing antibacterial chamazulene that will speed up the healing process!

Need Proof?

In a recent study, 82% of people that was suffering with canker sores reported relief just a few minutes after doing the 1 minute swish!

Chia Seed & Chia Gel? Let’s Get To Cooking!

Did you know that Chia seed is highly nutritious?  The word. Chia, has been referred to as “strength”.  Because of the seed’s benefit of being so energizing, they have also been called “Indian Running Food”.  Many people corporate chia seed into their daily diet because of their benefits to suppress the appetite, leveling blood sugar, weight loss, and aiding with intestinal regularity.

Study author Rafael Borneo, Ph.D has said that chia gel can be used in baking your favorite goodies & cutting calories while not affecting the flavor or texture!  You will cut 2 grams of fat and 20 calories from every serving just by replacing 1/2 of your favorite recipe’s oil or eggs with chia gel.

Now I know what you are asking, what does chia gel taste like?  It has a mild taste that simply isn’t noticeable in foods & the consistency is comparable to vegetable oil and eggs.

Ready to get cooking?  Chia gel is so very easy to make!  So Here Goes…

1/3 cup of chia seed

2 cups of warm water

Pour the 2 cups of warm water and the 1/3 cup of seed into a container with a lid.  Shake for 15-20 seconds.  Now just let the mixture sit for about 30 minutes, or until a gel forms (remember it has a consistency similar to vegetable oil and eggs).  Store the unused portion in the fridge for up to 7 days.
